Important Compatibility Information

Compatibility refers to the physical mounting provisions and supports supplied by DesktopCockpits. It does not mean that DesktopCockpits supplies, programs or controls the operation of third-party hardware or its associated software.

Please check the hardware manufacturer’s requirements for compatibility with your computer, simulator and aircraft add-on.

You must select the cockpit configuration that matches the exact hardware you own or intend to purchase. Third-party manufacturers may revise product dimensions or designs, so compatibility with later hardware revisions cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed.

If you are unsure about your hardware model or version, please contact us before ordering.

Compatibility is based on the products and versions described as supported at the time of purchase. Hardware or mounting configurations introduced after your order may require different parts or a new configuration.

The later release of additional compatible hardware does not make an existing cockpit faulty or automatically entitle the customer to a free modification, upgrade or replacement. This does not affect your statutory rights if the cockpit did not match the compatibility information or agreed specification provided when you ordered.

Compatible Flight Simulators

Compatible Simulators and Display Methods

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 – Supported with the compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on and GlassOut
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – Supported with the compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on and GlassOut
  • X-Plane 12 – Not yet tested; compatibility is not currently confirmed
  • X-Plane 11 – Not tested or officially supported by DesktopCockpits

Compatibility depends on your selected aircraft, software versions, computer performance and the availability of the required instrument-display functions.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Compatibility

The cockpit’s two physical LCD panels connect to your computer as external displays. No dedicated DesktopCockpits software is required.

GlassOut is required for the supported PMDG 737 setup. It is a paid third-party application that must be purchased separately.

Follow the included setup guide to configure and position the Captain’s and central instrument displays, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer, across the cockpit’s LCD panels.

The standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer are working instrument displays. Their physical buttons are decorative and non-functional.

You will need:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • A compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on for your simulator version
  • GlassOut with support for your selected simulator and aircraft version
  • A computer with suitable display connections and sufficient performance to run the simulator, aircraft and required instrument displays together

Other aircraft add-ons may also work with the cockpit. Its LCD panels operate as external displays, so instruments that can be opened in separate windows can, in principle, be dragged onto them.

Successful use depends on whether the required instruments can be moved, resized and positioned to fit the cockpit’s display openings. The physical panel layout remains 737 NG-style.

The PMDG 737 with GlassOut is our supported setup. Compatibility with other aircraft and display methods has not been confirmed by DesktopCockpits, so please test your intended setup before ordering.

Check Your Setup Before Ordering

We recommend testing your chosen simulator, PMDG aircraft and GlassOut together before ordering.

Confirm that:

  • GlassOut supports your exact simulator and aircraft version
  • All required instruments can be displayed correctly, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer
  • Your computer can run the simulator and additional instrument displays at a level of performance you consider acceptable
  • Your computer has the video connections and display capacity required for the cockpit’s two LCD panels alongside your main external monitor or monitors

Please also review the “Power Requirements” and connection information before ordering.

X-Plane Compatibility

X-Plane compatibility has not yet been tested for the DC-B73N Captain and is not currently confirmed.

Please do not order on the assumption that compatibility with another DesktopCockpits model, aircraft or display utility also applies to this cockpit.

We will update this section if a supported X-Plane setup is confirmed.

Third-Party Software and Future Updates

GlassOut, Microsoft Flight Simulator and PMDG aircraft add-ons are third-party products. They are purchased separately and remain subject to their respective developers’ licensing, system requirements, availability and updates.

Changes to these products may affect instrument-display functionality or require you to update or reconfigure your setup. DesktopCockpits cannot guarantee compatibility with every future third-party software release.

This does not affect your statutory rights, including where the cockpit is faulty, does not match an expressly agreed specification or was sold using inaccurate compatibility information.

Please review the aircraft compatibility, computer, connection and power requirements, and test your intended software setup before ordering.

Compatible Aircraft

Aircraft Compatibility

The DC-B73N Captain is designed around a 737 NG-style instrument panel layout focused on the Captain’s position.

Its two physical LCD panels operate as external displays. Aircraft compatibility depends on whether the required instruments can be displayed, resized and positioned to fit the cockpit’s display openings.

Flight simulators, aircraft add-ons and display utilities are not included.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Our supported setup is:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020: compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on with GlassOut
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on with GlassOut

GlassOut is required for this supported PMDG setup. It is a paid third-party application that must be purchased separately.

Please ensure that your PMDG aircraft version is suitable for your simulator and supported by GlassOut.

The standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer are working instrument displays. Their physical buttons are decorative and non-functional.

Using Other Aircraft Add-ons

The cockpit is not limited to the PMDG 737. Instruments from other aircraft can, in principle, be dragged onto the cockpit’s LCD panels if they can be opened as separate windows and moved to external displays.

Successful use depends on whether those instrument windows can be resized and positioned to fit the physical display openings. The cockpit’s panel layout remains 737 NG-style, so other aircraft layouts may not align correctly.

Other aircraft may use native pop-outs or different third-party display software. GlassOut is required for our supported PMDG setup, but may not be necessary for an alternative setup.

Aircraft and display methods not expressly listed as supported have not been confirmed by DesktopCockpits. Please test your intended setup before ordering.

Check Your Aircraft Before Ordering

We recommend confirming that:

  • All required Captain’s and central instruments, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer, can be displayed simultaneously
  • The instrument windows can be moved onto external displays
  • The windows can be resized and positioned to match the cockpit’s display openings
  • Any required third-party display software supports your exact simulator and aircraft versions
  • Your computer can run the simulator, aircraft and additional instrument displays at an acceptable level of performance
  • Your computer supports the cockpit’s two LCD panels alongside your main external monitor or monitors

Please review the cockpit dimensions, connection requirements and display information when assessing an alternative aircraft setup.

X-Plane Compatibility

X-Plane compatibility has not yet been tested for the DC-B73N Captain and is not currently confirmed.

An X-Plane aircraft may be suitable if its required instruments can be opened or extracted into separate windows and positioned across the cockpit’s displays. However, this should not be treated as confirmation that a particular aircraft or display utility will work.

Compatibility demonstrated with another DesktopCockpits model does not automatically apply to this cockpit.

We will update this section if a supported X-Plane setup is confirmed.

Third-Party Compatibility and Future Updates

Compatibility information relates to the simulator, aircraft and display-software versions covered by our published guidance. It should not be taken as confirmation of compatibility with every past or future version.

Simulator publishers, aircraft developers and software providers may update, restrict, replace or discontinue their products or functionality. These changes may affect instrument displays or require you to update or reconfigure your setup.

DesktopCockpits cannot guarantee compatibility with every future third-party software release.

This does not affect your statutory rights, including where the cockpit is faulty, does not match an expressly agreed specification or was sold using inaccurate compatibility information.

Third-Party Software and Licensing

Flight simulators, aircraft add-ons, display utilities and their associated licences are not included with the cockpit.

Customers are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the licences required for their intended use. Please check each provider’s terms, particularly for commercial, exhibition, training or public use.

Purchasing the cockpit does not grant any rights to use third-party software. DesktopCockpits cannot guarantee that a provider will continue offering its software or licences on the same terms.

Compatibility references describe the intended use of the cockpit and do not represent certification or endorsement by the relevant third-party developer.

DesktopCockpits is an independent business and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Boeing, Microsoft, PMDG, Laminar Research or the developers of the display utilities mentioned. All third-party trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Please review the aircraft compatibility, computer, connection and power requirements, and test your intended software setup before ordering.

PC Requirements

Can My Computer Handle This Cockpit?

The cockpit does not require dedicated DesktopCockpits software or a specific model of computer. Its two physical LCD panels operate as additional external displays.

Our supported setup uses Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with a compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on and GlassOut. GlassOut is a paid third-party application purchased separately.

Displaying the Captain’s and central instruments, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer, across additional displays can increase demand on your computer.

The most useful performance check is to test all required instrument displays with your chosen simulator, aircraft and display software before ordering.

Acceptable performance during this test is a useful indication of suitability, but you must also check that your computer can operate both cockpit displays alongside your main monitor or monitors.

General Performance Guidance

As a starting point, your computer should meet or exceed the current recommended, rather than minimum, requirements published by your simulator, aircraft and display-software developers.

Minimum requirements may not provide acceptable performance with a complex aircraft, detailed scenery, a high-resolution main monitor and additional instrument displays.

Meeting published specifications does not guarantee a particular frame rate. Performance also depends on your aircraft, scenery, graphics settings, display resolutions, drivers, background applications and third-party software.

Required Connections

Each of the cockpit’s two physical LCD panels requires its own video connection and USB power connection.

Your setup must provide:

  • 2 × suitable USB power connections (please see “Power Requirements” for suitable power supplies; power adapters are not included)
  • 2 × compatible video connections capable of operating the cockpit displays independently

Your computer must support both cockpit LCD panels in addition to your main monitor(s). For example, one main monitor plus the cockpit requires support for three simultaneous displays.

DisplayPort display cables are included as standard. Please select the HDMI option when ordering if required.

Check both the available connections and the maximum number of simultaneous displays supported by your computer. Having enough physical ports does not necessarily mean that every connected display can operate at the same time.

Some laptops, docking stations, adapters and graphics cards limit the number or resolution of independent external displays they support.

A splitter that only duplicates or mirrors one video output is not suitable. The two cockpit displays must operate independently.

The USB connections provide power only and do not carry the instrument video signal. USB power cables are included, but mains USB power adapters and powered USB hubs are not.

We strongly recommend suitable USB mains power adapters or a mains-powered USB hub. Please see “Power Requirements” for details. Do not assume that your computer’s USB ports will provide sufficient, stable power for both panels.

Windows Compatibility

The supported PMDG 737 and GlassOut setup requires a Windows computer meeting the requirements of your chosen simulator, aircraft add-on and GlassOut version.

Please check that all three software products support your operating-system version before ordering.

macOS and X-Plane

X-Plane compatibility has not yet been tested for the DC-B73N Captain, and no macOS setup is currently confirmed as supported.

A computer’s ability to connect to the LCD panels does not, by itself, confirm that the necessary aircraft instruments can be displayed correctly.

Please do not order for macOS or X-Plane on the assumption that compatibility demonstrated with another DesktopCockpits model also applies to this cockpit.

How to Test Your Computer

You do not need to own the cockpit to carry out an initial software and performance test:

  1. Load your chosen simulator and compatible PMDG 737 aircraft, using the airport, scenery and graphics settings you normally fly with.
  2. Configure GlassOut to display all the Captain’s and central instruments required for the cockpit, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer.
  3. Move these displays onto spare external monitors where possible. If none are available, arrange them on your existing display for an initial performance check.
  4. Test in a demanding situation, such as operating at a detailed airport, and check both simulator performance and instrument responsiveness.
  5. Confirm separately that your computer supports two additional independent displays at the cockpit’s required resolutions.

Testing on one screen is only an initial check. It does not reproduce the full demands of operating the cockpit’s two LCD panels alongside your main display setup.

For an alternative aircraft or display method, repeat the test using the exact software you intend to use. Confirm that every required instrument can be moved, resized and positioned to fit the cockpit’s display openings.

Please complete the checks above before ordering. We cannot confirm computer suitability or predict simulator performance from a specification list alone. Test your intended software setup and check your computer or graphics-card manufacturer’s documentation to confirm support for the required number of simultaneous displays.

Other Platforms

The supported setup requires a Windows PC. Xbox, PlayStation, Chromebooks and mobile devices are not supported.

Linux configurations and X-Plane 11 have not been tested or officially supported by DesktopCockpits.

Performance can be affected by computer hardware, drivers, simulator updates, graphics settings, aircraft add-ons and third-party software. Reduced performance caused by the customer’s computer or software environment does not by itself indicate a fault with the cockpit.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory consumer rights.

Display Connections

Required Connections

The cockpit contains two physical LCD panels. Each panel requires its own independent video connection and USB power connection.

Your setup must provide:

  • 2 × compatible video connections capable of operating the cockpit displays independently
  • 2 × suitable USB power connections (please see “Power Requirements”; power adapters are not included)

Your computer must support both cockpit LCD panels in addition to your main monitor or monitors. For example, one main monitor plus the cockpit requires support for three simultaneous independent displays.

Check both the available video outputs and the maximum number of simultaneous displays supported by your computer or graphics card.

The cockpit displays must be configured as extended displays, rather than duplicated or mirrored displays.

We strongly recommend suitable USB mains power adapters or a mains-powered USB hub for the LCD panels. The supplied USB cables provide power only and do not carry the instrument video signal.

Display Cables and Adapters

DisplayPort display cables are included as standard. Please select the HDMI option when ordering if you require HDMI connections instead.

Choose the cable configuration that matches the available video outputs on your computer, allowing for any outputs already used by your main monitor or other displays.

USB Display Adapters

If your Windows computer does not have enough available native video outputs, a compatible USB 3.0-to-HDMI display adapter may provide an alternative way to connect independent extended displays.

DesktopCockpits has previously tested the following adapter on Windows:

  • ABLEWE USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter with USB 3.0 Port

In our tested setup, this adapter supported two independent HDMI displays through a compatible USB 3.0 port with its required driver installed.

USB display adapters are not included and must be purchased separately. Compatibility and performance depend on the exact adapter model, computer, USB controller, operating system, drivers and simulator setup. Previous testing does not guarantee compatibility or acceptable performance with every setup.

If you intend to use this HDMI adapter, select HDMI display cables for the cockpit when ordering.

The adapter requires a suitable USB data connection to your computer. This is separate from the USB power connections for the two LCD panels. Do not assume that the adapter can also supply sufficient power to the panels.

Where possible, test your chosen adapter with your simulator, aircraft and instrument-display software before ordering the cockpit.

HDMI or DisplayPort splitters that only duplicate or mirror an existing display are not suitable. Both cockpit panels must operate as independent extended displays.

Before ordering, check your computer or graphics-card manufacturer’s documentation and any adapter specifications to confirm the required connections and simultaneous display support.

Power Requirements

Power Requirements

The cockpit’s two LCD panels each require a separate USB power connection. USB power cables are included. These provide power only; the instrument video signal is supplied through the separate display cables.

We strongly recommend powering both LCD panels using suitable USB mains power adapters or a USB hub with its own mains power supply. Please arrange a suitable power supply before your cockpit arrives.

Power adapters and powered USB hubs are not included.

Recommended Power Setup

You can use:

  • A suitable dual-port USB mains charger capable of powering both LCD panels simultaneously
  • Separate suitable USB mains adapters for the individual panels
  • A suitable mains-powered USB hub with two charging ports meeting the output specifications below

Recommended USB power supply capacity:

  • Per panel: A port capable of supplying 5 V/2.4 A
  • For both panels together: 5 V/4.8 A combined output, equivalent to 24 W
  • When using a dual-port charger or hub: Both ports must be capable of supplying 5 V/2.4 A simultaneously

These figures describe the recommended power supply capacity, rather than the panels’ continuous power consumption.

Check the output of each port, not just the charger’s total wattage. Multi-port chargers and hubs may share their available power between connected devices, reducing the output available from individual ports.

A hub being described as “powered” does not automatically mean that its ports can supply enough power for the displays.

Previously Tested Power Options

DesktopCockpits has previously tested the following power products:

  • Duracell Dual 24 W USB-A Charger
  • Belkin BoostCharge Dual USB-A 24 W Charger
  • TP-Link UH720 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub, using its two dedicated 5 V/2.4 A charging ports

A single suitable dual-port charger can power both Captain cockpit panels, provided both ports meet the specified output simultaneously.

When using the TP-Link UH720, connect both display power cables to its two dedicated charging ports. The standard USB data ports may not provide sufficient power for the displays.

Before purchasing, check that the exact charger or hub can provide 5 V/2.4 A from each of the two ports simultaneously.

Product specifications can change, and similarly named models may have different output ratings. Previous testing does not confirm suitability for every product revision.

Using Your Computer’s USB Ports

Some computers may provide sufficient USB power, but we do not recommend relying on this as your planned power source.

The power available from USB ports depends on the computer’s USB hardware and port specifications. A powerful gaming computer or

Instrument Pop-Outs & Required Software

Instrument Pop-Outs and Display Software

The cockpit’s two physical LCD panels operate as external displays connected to your computer. They do not require dedicated DesktopCockpits software.

Your aircraft’s Captain’s and central instrument displays, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer, must be positioned across these panels to align with the cockpit’s display openings. The available method depends on your simulator, aircraft and display software.

The standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer are working instrument displays. Their physical buttons are decorative and non-functional.

Supported Setup: PMDG 737 with GlassOut

Our supported setup uses Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Windows, with a compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on and GlassOut.

GlassOut is required for this supported setup. It is a paid third-party application purchased separately and is not included with the cockpit.

Follow the supplied setup guide to configure the required instrument displays and position them across the cockpit’s two LCD panels.

Before ordering, check that GlassOut supports your exact simulator and PMDG aircraft versions. You will also need to purchase the simulator and compatible aircraft add-on separately.

Alternative Aircraft and Display Methods

The cockpit is not limited to the PMDG 737. Its LCD panels can display instrument windows from other aircraft if those windows can be moved onto external displays and resized to fit the cockpit’s physical openings.

Depending on your chosen aircraft, this may be possible using native instrument pop-outs or another compatible display utility. GlassOut may not be necessary for an alternative setup.

However, the physical panel layout remains 737 NG-style. Other aircraft instruments may differ in shape, proportions or arrangement and may not fit correctly.

Alternative aircraft and display methods are not confirmed as supported unless expressly listed by DesktopCockpits. Please test your intended setup before ordering.

X-Plane

X-Plane compatibility has not yet been tested for the DC-B73N Captain and is not currently confirmed.

Native aircraft pop-outs or third-party display-extraction software may offer a suitable method, but this should not be treated as confirmation that a particular aircraft, operating system or utility will work with this cockpit.

Tutorials or compatibility results for other DesktopCockpits models do not automatically apply to the DC-B73N Captain.

Test Your Setup Before Ordering

Use your intended simulator, aircraft and display software to check that:

  • All required Captain’s and central instrument displays, including the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer, can operate simultaneously
  • The instrument windows can be moved onto external displays
  • The windows can be resized and positioned to align with the cockpit’s display openings
  • Instruments remain readable and update correctly
  • Simulator performance remains acceptable with your normal aircraft, scenery and graphics settings

Where possible, test using additional monitors. Testing on your existing main display provides an initial software and performance check, but does not reproduce the full demands of running both cockpit LCD panels.

Please also review “Can My Computer Handle This Cockpit?” for display-connection and computer requirements.

Third-Party Software

Flight simulators, aircraft add-ons, GlassOut and any alternative display utilities are third-party products and are not included with the cockpit. Required software and licences must be obtained separately.

Their availability, pricing, system requirements and compatibility are controlled by their respective developers. Future updates may require you to update or reconfigure your setup.

  • Keep it away from direct sunlight, radiators, heaters and other sources of heat
  • Avoid exposure to moisture, liquids and excessive humidity
  • Disconnect the cables before cleaning or moving the cockpit
  • Clean the structure and displays gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth
  • Do not spray cleaning products directly onto the cockpit or displays
  • Do not use solvents, alcohol-based cleaners or abrasive products
  • Support the cockpit securely along its base when lifting or moving it. Due to its width, we recommend two people move it together to keep it evenly supported
  • Do not lift or carry it using the panels, glareshield supports or installed third-party controls
  • Ensure the cockpit is placed on a stable, suitably sized surface and secured using the supplied clamps where appropriate

Damage caused by unsuitable cleaning products, excessive heat, liquids, improper handling, modification or misuse is not considered a manufacturing fault. This does not affect your statutory rights where the product itself is faulty or not as described.

Handmade and 3D-Printed Finish

Each cockpit is manufactured and assembled individually using 3D-printed components. Minor cosmetic variations may therefore include:

  • Visible layer or surface lines
  • Small variations in colour, shade or texture
  • Minor marks where components have been finished or assembled
  • Small amounts of visible adhesive in certain assembled areas
  • Other slight cosmetic variations associated with 3D printing and hand assembly

These characteristics are inherent to the manufacturing process and may vary between products. Minor cosmetic variations within reasonable manufacturing tolerances are not faults where they do not materially affect the product’s overall appearance, operation or durability.

Returns & Technical Support

Cancellations, Returns and Technical Support

Statutory Change-of-Mind Cancellations

Qualifying consumers in the UK, EU and Norway may cancel an eligible online order within 14 days after delivery without giving a reason.

To exercise this right, use our Withdraw from Your Contract (UK, EU & Norway Only) form or send us a clear statement confirming your decision to cancel. Eligible products must then be returned within 14 days after you notify us.

Customers are responsible for the direct return cost of a change-of-mind cancellation. Estimated maximum return costs, eligibility requirements and the complete process are provided in our Returns & Refund Policy.

We do not offer voluntary change-of-mind returns for deliveries to other destinations, unless applicable local law requires otherwise.

Bespoke and Personalised Orders

The statutory cancellation right may not apply to genuinely bespoke, non-prefabricated products made according to an individual customer specification, or to clearly personalised goods.

Producing a standard listed cockpit to order or selecting from the standard options offered on the product page does not, by itself, make the entire product exempt from cancellation. We will identify any genuinely bespoke or personalised element before the order is placed where an exemption applies.

This does not affect your statutory rights if a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described.

Technical Support

Technical support is available if you experience problems setting up or using your cockpit. Please contact us before attempting to modify or repair the product so that we can help diagnose the issue.

Contacting us for technical support does not prevent you from exercising an applicable statutory cancellation right.

Please Check Compatibility and Performance Before Ordering

Our supported setup uses Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with a compatible PMDG 737 aircraft add-on and GlassOut. GlassOut is a paid third-party application purchased separately.

Before ordering, test that your computer can run your chosen simulator, aircraft and all required instrument displays simultaneously at an acceptable level of performance. This includes the Captain and central instruments, together with the standby instrument/ISFD and chronometer.

Your computer must also support the cockpit’s two physical LCD panels alongside your main monitor or monitors. Please review the connection and power requirements before ordering.

Other aircraft and display methods may work if their instruments can be moved, resized and positioned to fit the cockpit’s display openings. These setups are not confirmed as supported unless expressly listed by DesktopCockpits.

X-Plane compatibility has not yet been tested for the DC-B73N Captain and is not currently confirmed.

Compatibility and performance vary according to your computer, simulator settings, aircraft and third-party software. Please complete the checks described in “Can My Computer Handle This Cockpit?” before ordering.

These checks do not limit any applicable statutory cancellation rights or rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods.

UK, EU & Norway customers: Eligible standard products have a 14-day statutory cancellation right. Direct return costs apply. Genuine bespoke orders may be excluded. View the full cancellation terms and estimated return costs.

We do not offer voluntary change-of-mind returns for other destinations.
